Drivers:Mike Wainwright

Mike has come to racing relatively late compared to some of his peers, but has nevertheless made an immediate impact.  He made his debut in 2010 in the Dubai 24 Hours in the Renault Clio Cup and finished a creditable 5^th in class, and has since gone on to compete on GT racing’s world stage against some of the best names in the business.

 

Under the tutelage of experienced French racer, Fabien Giroix, Mike began building his own skill levels by taking part in selected races in the 2010 VdeV Endurance GT series driving a Lamborghini Gallardo.  He quickly proved himself, winning a 3-hour race at Ledenon in his first few months of competition, before taking on another endurance challenge in the form of the Spa 24 Hours alongside friend Roald Goethe.  Together with their professional team mates, they finished 9^th in the GT3 class.

 

After forming his own team in early 2011 with Roald, Frederic Fatien and Jean-Pierre Valentini as co-team principals, Mike embarked on a season of racing which saw him take on and conquer some of the world’s greatest endurance classics.  With the backing of Gulf Oil International and driving an Aston Martin Vantage GT2, Mike gained valuable track experience at the 12 Hours of Sebring, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Petit Le Mans and the 6 Hours of Spa and Silverstone.  Despite being hampered by early season technical issues, he and Roald went on to garner points and mileage which will stand them in good stead for 2012 when they will be racing the new McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in the European-based Blancpain Endurance Series.

 

Mike combines his racing with a very busy business life.  Living in Geneva, he enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors, skiing and walking, as well as spending time with his young family.
