The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the town of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy.
Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting, the site has three tracks – the 5.793 kilometres (3.600 mi) Grand Prix track, the 2.405 kilometres (1.494 mi) Junior track, and a decaying 4.250 kilometres (2.641 mi) high speed track with steep bankings. Major features of the main track include the Curva di Lesmo, the Curva Parabolica, and the Variante Ascari. The high speed curve, Curva Grande, is located after a slow corner, but usually taken flat out by Grand Prix cars.
The first ever Blancpain Endurance Series race at Monza was a huge success with Italian team AutOrlando Sport, driven by Paolo Ruberti, taking the chequered flag in front of their home crowd. The Porsche only had to compete two stops, while their nearest rivals stopped three times, and this gave the team the advantage to step on the podium. The 2nd placed car was the n°32 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS of Ortelli, Longin and Albuquerqe finished 58sec behind the Porsche, followed by the Marc VDS Ford GT of Martin, Leinders and Palttala. In the Pro Am category, the class winners were Marc A. Hayek and Peter Kox in the Blancpain Reiter Lamborghini, with Marc A. Hayek bringing the car in 4th overall. Georges Cabannes and Grégory Guilvert were the Gentlemen Trophy winners in the Ruffier Racing Lamborghini Gallardo and the GT4 Cup was won by the Lotus Italia team with Edoardo Piscopo, Leo Mansell and Greg Mansell holding off the challenge of the RJN Motorsport Nissan to claim the first GT4 Class win of the new Series.
